A first bold step toward revitalizing downtown Rochester, NH.

The Howard is a 55,000 sf ground-up multifamily building located on North Main Street in downtown Rochester. This premium apartment building is one of the first redevelopment projects in Rochester. It was a key piece in revitalizing this downtown community, and was a welcome repurposing of a long-vacant property.

The building includes 45 apartments consisting of 36 two-bedroom and 9 one-bedroom units and an additional 2,300 sf of restaurant space on the ground floor.

This project presented numerous challenges including height variations, existing nearby structures, and concerns with snow load, which were all factored into the building configuration.

Art Décor Inspiration

The Howard is designed to take cues from the site’s existing structure history, using art deco-style precast concrete elements at the first-floor commercial façade
